Best MetaTrader 5 Prop Firms 2026
MetaTrader 5 remains the default platform in prop trading: the widest firm support, the deepest Expert Advisor ecosystem, and the most third-party tooling. If your strategy depends on EAs or custom indicators, MT5 support is usually the first filter to apply.

FAQ
Can I run Expert Advisors (EAs) on a funded MT5 prop account?
Most MT5 prop firms allow EAs but forbid latency, tick-scalping, HFT and copy-trading bots. Always check the firm's rulebook — a compliant EA at one firm can be an instant breach at another.
Is MT5 better than MT4 for prop trading?
Yes for new accounts: MT5 has a faster order engine, native economic calendar, more timeframes and better hedging/netting flexibility. MT4 support is being phased out across the industry — pick MT5 unless you have legacy MQL4 EAs you can't migrate.
Which broker feeds do prop firms use for MT5?
Most firms run MT5 on a white-label of a licensed broker (Purple Trading, ThinkMarkets, Eightcap and Match-Trade are common). Spreads and swaps therefore vary firm-to-firm even on the same platform.
Does MT5 work on Mac?
There's no native macOS build. Prop traders use Parallels/CrossOver, a Windows VPS or the firm's web terminal. Confirm your firm allows VPS execution before committing to that setup.
